Are SATs and GCSE results related?
Do your child’s scores in their SATS indicate what they will get in their GCSEs?
The answer is broadly YES.
SATs results are now used to group children in secondary school and predict their GCSE results.
If your child scores 100 in their SATs they are expected to get a Grade C (Grade5) in their GCSEs .
What does this mean for you as a parent?
It means that if your child is average at Primary School they are likely to be average at Secondary School.
If you child is behind at Primary School they are likely to be behind at Secondary School.
If your child is ahead at Primary School they are likely to be ahead at Secondary School!
So the solution is…. GET YOUR CHILD AHEAD!
Do this as soon as possible. It’s never too early.
Read to them from an early age. Make studying a part of their routine.
