What happens to your body when you haven’t been to the gym in weeks?
You lose fitness & inspiration.
And… it’s hard to get back on track…It takes some time to get back to where you were in the first pace!

This is EXACTLY what happens to your child over the summer.
School provides structure and discipline, and over the summer, many children fall out of their daily routines of reading, practicing skills, and staying mentally active. This can make it harder for them to transition back into the rigors of academic life when school resumes. Good study habits, like time management, concentration, and perseverance, may deteriorate without regular practice.
Studies have shown that students who don’t engage in educational activities over the summer can lose significant ground in key areas like reading and math. On average, children may lose about two to three months of math skills and one to two months of reading skills over the summer. This means that, when they return to school, they may start the new year behind where they left off. Learning is cumulative, meaning new knowledge often builds on prior knowledge. If children lose important foundational skills over the summer, it can make learning new concepts more difficult.
Without any educational engagement over the summer, students are at risk of experiencing summer learning loss, which can affect their academic progress. By maintaining a balance of fun and learning, this can be minimized, allowing children to start the school year prepared and confident.
