Ideally, your child should start preparing for the 11+ or Entrance Exams<\/a> in Year 4. This will give you enough time to get your child up to speed with the subject areas and get used to the question types. However, we don’t live in an ideal world and in truth, any preparation is better than no preparation. But, beware. More and more children are now preparing for and taking the 11+, and each extra child that takes this test reduces your child’s chance of passing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

These are not GCSEs or SATs that most students will pass. Places for Grammar Schools are limited and the competition is fierce. Depending on your child’s ability one tuition session per week might not be enough. Your child might have to study on their own time as well as take tuition. Standards in Grammar Schools will be high. An over-tutored student might struggle which can be very stressful for the child and their parents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
