Again I typed why is Maths so important into google and found many answers. From a personal point of view I always had a head start with Maths. From the age of 6 I played cards with my parents and grandparents in the days when children weren’t so important as they are today! They didn’t let me win- I had to work out my own strategies- and it worked! By the age of 11 my Maths skills were excellent and this helped me pass an 11+ test I’m sure. My favourite game was and still is crib.
So many people fall out with Maths at an early age and convince themselves that they simply can’t do it. For most people this simply isn’t true – they’ve just had a bad experience and didn’t enjoy it at school. My message is always the same – start early! If your child is ahead of the game then they’ll always do well at school.
